Build Your Career with McCool's Pools
Service Route Technician Position Available
McCool's Pools is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as Service Route Technicians. Since 2005, we've built our reputation on providing exceptional pool service throughout the Phoenix area, and we're looking for people who share our commitment to quality work and outstanding customer service. If you're mechanically inclined, enjoy working outdoors, and want a stable career with real growth potential, we want to hear from you. No prior pool experience is required—we provide comprehensive paid training that will teach you everything you need to know.
The Position: Service Route Technician
What You'll Do Every Day
As a Service Route Technician, you'll manage a dedicated route of 60-80 residential pools, providing weekly maintenance service Monday through Friday. Your responsibilities include testing and balancing water chemistry, brushing pool surfaces and tile, skimming debris and vacuuming as needed, emptying all baskets (skimmer, pump, leaf canisters), conducting equipment performance checks, performing minor repairs and part replacements, maintaining accurate service records, and communicating with customers professionally. You'll work independently once trained, managing your own route and schedule while backed by our experienced support team.
Small Repairs and Equipment Maintenance
Beyond weekly cleaning, you'll handle common repairs and replacements that arise during service visits. This includes replacing pump and skimmer baskets, changing O-rings and gaskets, replacing floating chlorinators, troubleshooting equipment issues, performing salt cell maintenance, and coordinating with our repair team for larger problems. These skills develop over time with training and hands-on experience. You'll never be expected to tackle repairs you're not comfortable with—we have experienced technicians to handle complex work.
Work Schedule and Environment
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, typically starting early morning to beat Arizona's intense afternoon heat during summer months. You'll spend your days outdoors moving between pools on your assigned route. The work is physical—walking, bending, lifting equipment and chemical buckets, and working in various weather conditions. Summer heat is challenging, but we provide support and ensure you have what you need to work safely. Winter months in Arizona are pleasant, making outdoor work enjoyable much of the year.

What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
Dependability: Our customers count on consistent service every week. You must be reliable, punctual, and committed to showing up even when it's inconvenient. This is the single most important quality we look for—without dependability, nothing else matters.
Honesty and Integrity: You'll work independently at customers' homes when they're not present. We need people with strong character who treat every property with respect and honesty. Our reputation has been built over nearly two decades on trustworthiness—we protect it carefully.
Self-Starter Attitude: While you'll receive thorough training and ongoing support, you need to be comfortable working independently once trained. You must be able to manage your time, solve routine problems, and take initiative without constant supervision. We're looking for people who take pride in their work and don't need micromanaging.
Mechanical Inclination: You don't need to be an expert mechanic, but you should be comfortable with basic mechanical concepts and willing to learn equipment operation and repair. If you enjoy figuring out how things work and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you'll do well in this role.
Important Qualifications
Customer Service Skills: You'll interact with customers regularly, answering questions, explaining service needs, and representing McCool's Pools professionally. Strong communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude are essential. Many customers become long-term relationships—your professionalism matters.
Physical Capability: This work requires physical fitness. You'll walk several miles daily, lift 50-pound chemical buckets, work bent over pool edges, and operate equipment. You must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in Arizona's climate, including hot summer days.
Valid Driver's License: You'll drive a company truck between pools throughout the day. A clean driving record is required as you'll represent our company on the road.
Drug-Free: We maintain a drug-free workplace and conduct pre-employment testing. Safety is paramount when working with pool chemicals and equipment.
No Experience Required - We Train You
Comprehensive Paid Training Program
We don't expect you to know anything about pools when you start—we'll teach you everything. Our training program covers water chemistry and testing, pool cleaning techniques and best practices, equipment operation and basic troubleshooting, customer service and communication, safety procedures and chemical handling, route management and time efficiency, and our service standards and procedures. Training begins in the classroom and continues with hands-on field work alongside experienced technicians. You'll learn at a comfortable pace with ongoing support as you develop confidence and skills.
Ongoing Education and Skill Development
Learning doesn't stop after initial training. We provide continuing education on new equipment and technology, advanced troubleshooting techniques, repair skills development, and certification opportunities. As you gain experience and demonstrate aptitude, we invest in expanding your capabilities. Many of our most skilled technicians started with no pool experience—they grew with us through training and commitment to learning.
Career Growth Opportunities
We promote from within whenever possible. Experienced route technicians can advance to repair specialist positions, become lead technicians or trainers, move into supervisory or management roles, or even explore other opportunities within the company. We value long-term employees and actively support career development for those who show dedication and capability. Your potential isn't limited by your starting position—it's determined by your work ethic and willingness to grow.
What We Provide
Tools and Equipment
You'll receive everything needed to perform your job successfully. We provide a clean, well-maintained company truck equipped with all necessary tools and equipment, a smartphone for communication and service documentation, all chemicals and supplies needed for your route, and safety equipment and protective gear. Chemicals and Supply Headquarters
Our facility stocks everything you need. We maintain comprehensive chemical inventory, replacement parts for common repairs, and all cleaning equipment and supplies. When you need to restock, we make it easy and convenient. You'll never run out of what you need to do your job properly.
Strong Support and Communication
You're never alone even when working independently. We provide experienced team support for questions or problems, management availability for guidance, coordination with repair specialists for complex issues, and regular communication about route changes or customer needs. We maintain a team environment where everyone supports each other's success.
